Date: 15 July 2026 Duration: 2 Hours (2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) Venue: Al-Hudha Matriculation School, Sivaganga Participants: 164 Students Resource Persons: Dr. S. Kulandaisamy & Ms. Indhumathi
On the occasion of K. Kamarajar’s Birthday, the Gandhi Peace Foundation, Madras conducted a two-hour Peace Education Session for 164 students at Al-Hudha Matriculation School, Sivaganga.
Dr. S. Kulandaisamy commenced the session with an interactive discussion on the question, “What is Peace?” Students enthusiastically shared a variety of thoughtful and unique responses, creating a lively and reflective learning environment. The discussion encouraged them to understand that peace begins with oneself and grows through everyday actions.
Ms. Indhumathi introduced the Six Peace Rules through practical examples and interactive activities. Students actively participated by sharing their own experiences and exploring how these simple rules can be practised in their homes, classrooms, and communities.
A special feature of the programme was the introduction of the “Gandhian Lifestyle for a Peaceful World” poster. Instead of a conventional lecture, the students themselves explained the concepts presented in the poster, including Sarvodaya, Means and Ends, and Duties and Rights. This unique approach transformed the students into teachers, enabling peer learning and building confidence while deepening their understanding of Gandhian philosophy.
At the end of the session, every student received a copy of the “Gandhian Lifestyle for a Peaceful World” poster to encourage them to continue reflecting on and practising these values in their daily lives.
The session, organised as part of the Kamarajar Birthday celebrations, inspired students to develop self-awareness, practise peaceful living, and become active contributors to a more compassionate and harmonious society.
