November 11th, 2024, Thursday – Avvai Home Session Attendees: Class 7 Resource Person: Dr. S. Kulandaisamy Observers: Ms. Sridevi & Ms. Indhumathi Timings: 3:00 PM – 3:45 PM The session began with Dr. S. Kulandaisamy revising the six rules with the students. Throughout the session, students practiced the art of raising their hands instead of shouting in groups. Dr. Kulandaisamy engaged the students in a discussion about India’s journey to independence, focusing on the question, “How did we gain freedom?” He explained that while the British had weapons to control the Indian population, Mahatma Gandhi trained people to adopt a simple lifestyle and resist with non-violence. He highlighted that even if violence led to physical harm, it could not touch the inner soul, which remains eternal. Dr. Kulandaisamy then detailed Mahatma Gandhi’s 11 Vows: 1. Truth 2. Non-Violence 3. Non-Stealing 4. Non-Possession 5. Bread Labour 6. Swadeshi 7. Fearlessness 8. Removal of Untouchability 9. Reverence for All Religions 10. Control of the Palate 11. Brahmacharya
