The event began with Dr. T. Sukumar, Professor of the IT Department, introducing
Dr. S. Kulandaisamy and Ms. Indhumathi from the Gandhi Peace Foundation, Alwarpet, Chennai.
Dr. S. Kulandaisamy led an interactive session with the students, discussing their daily lives and how they handle various situations. He emphasized the importance of living authentically, encouraging students to recognize their unique talents and evolve them practically according to their circumstances. Dr. Kulandaisamy highlighted three major key points for personal and social growth:
Exploration
Innovation
Creation
He explained that when one follows their heart and acts with integrity, peace becomes a natural quality of life. Dr. Kulandaisamy also shared real-life incidents from Mahatma Gandhi’s life, showcasing his self-reliance, decisiveness, confidence, and simplicity. The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in the discussion.
Ms. Indhumathi introduced the work of the Gandhi Peace Foundation, specifically how they are empowering youth through sessions based on Gandhian values and offering volunteer programs for college students. She also shared the 6 Basic Rules for Peace, which were written by Dr. Kulandaisamy and compiled in his book Gandhian Way to Peace. The book includes powerful short stories centered around these peace principles.
The event concluded with Dr. Sukumar presenting mementos to both speakers on behalf of the college.
