GEN Z TO GEN PEACE MOVEMENT
Report on the Project Inauguration and Orientation
Servasev Vidhyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School
Kunnavakkam, Uthiramerur | 6 November 2026
A four-hour inauguration and orientation programme for the three-month Gen Z to Gen Peace project was held today, with the participation of 13 teachers and 275 students. Principal Mrs. R. Suganya also participated.
The programme introduced the project’s objectives, exploratory methodology, weekly activities and preparations for the concluding presentation on Gandhiji’s Martyrs’ Day, 30 January 2027.
An initial orientation was conducted for all participating students. This was followed by a planning discussion with the 13 teachers and the Principal about guiding the student groups and developing the Peace Wall and Peace Garden.
Principal Mrs. Suganya generously allotted two hours every week, instead of the proposed one hour, for teachers to guide students and help them undertake constructive peace activities.
The following activities were discussed and finalised:
– Practising the Six Rules for Peace and sharing their experiences across the campus.
– Undertaking the 30-day “Micro Actions for Macro Peace” plan, with observation and reflection.
– Learning and applying ORACLE in everyday situations.
– Practising a nonviolent conflict-resolution technique.
– Creating stories based on the Gicha concept.
– Preparing original posters, drawings and reflections for the Peace Wall.
– Planting and nurturing seeds and saplings in the Peace Garden.
The students will work in 13 teacher-led groups, each with approximately 21 students. The groups will meet every week during the allotted time to plan, act, reflect and prepare their creative contributions.
The next collective review will take place in December 2026, followed by a further preparatory meeting before Pongal, 15 January 2027. These meetings will provide opportunities to share progress, address difficulties and prepare for the concluding programme.
On 30 January 2027, the students’ creations and experiences will be brought together through displays and stage presentations, demonstrating how small, sustained actions can nurture peace within oneself, among friends and throughout the school.
Gandhi Peace Foundation sincerely thanks the Principal Mrs. R. Suganya, the management headed by Mr.S.Muneeswaran, the Correspondent and the 13 participating teachers and all 275 students for their enthusiastic commitment to this shared endeavour.
