On Thursday, August 1, 2024, the workshop on “Teachers as Harbingers of Peace” commenced at 9:00 AM and concluded at 12:25 PM.
A total of 25 teachers from various schools participated, including 13 teachers from Sarvaseva schools in Manithottam and Kunnavakkam of the Uthiramerur area.
Retired Principals Mr. Vageeshwaran and Mr. Poornachandran shared their experiences in empowering their students to cultivate a culture of peace. They also provided valuable tips on how to be effective peace educators.
Mrs. Swathanthra Sakthivel, an educational advisor, led an interactive session with the teachers, enlightening them on various aspects of educational modules aimed at fostering right leadership in students.
The “Peace Boys” group, consisting of nine 6th-grade students from Chennai High School, Vanniya Teynampet, Chennai-18, presented a peace song and a skit based on a story from the “21 Tiny Books” series.
These book sets were gifted to all 25 teachers. Three of the stories were read aloud by the teachers, who then explained the themes to the audience.
Mr. Kulandaisamy and Ms. Indhumathi of GPF explained the content of the books and demonstrated how teachers can narrate the stories in three minutes at the beginning of class hours.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks and the recitation of the “Raghupathy Raghava Rajaram” bhajan.

It was a wonderful session. Teachers from various schools eagerly participated and read out stories from the provided tiny book sets. Mr. Kulandaisamy demonstrated the three-minute story to the teachers. The event inspired the teachers to become harbingers of change.
It was my pleasure and blessing being a part of the workshop. Indhumathi Ma’am was such a wonderful and a charismatic person who helped us all throughout the session. Kulandaisamy Sir’s speech had a miracle and magnet touch that inspired all of us. Other dignitaries who spoke there also invoked the virtues and morals in us, and the learnings that we had from them are going to be delivered to our learners by us wholly and sincerely. GPF is practising the policy of simplicity that touch me the most.
Also a Speacial thanks to Indhumathi Ma’am and Kulandaisamy Sir for having given me a chance of singing the song *Raghupati Raghavan Rajaram*.
The session enhanced the need for rebuilding lost values among students through reading of short stories. Reading habit will also be inculcated in the younger generation which is lost in the maze of technology.
